My research focuses on the kinetics and mechanisms of trace element adsorption/desorption reactions on mineral surfaces. In particular, I am interested in the influence of residence time on the desorption kinetics of trace elements from mineral surfaces and the effect that specifically adsorbed cations and anions have on the organic ligand promoted dissolution kinetics of minerals. Ultimately, this information will allow us to better predict the bioavailability of trace elements in natural environments.
